Monrovia, Liberia – Lofa County University (LCU) has signed a landmark agreement with A-1 Technical Engineering Solutions LTD to solarize its campus with a 100kW solar power system, marking the first major renewable energy project for a public university in northern Liberia.
Under the deal, A-1 will design, supply, and install a cutting-edge 100kW solar photovoltaic system to provide reliable, and uninterruptable electricity to the university.

For years, LCU has struggled with high fuel costs and frequent power outages that disrupted learning. With student enrollment now approaching 2,000, the university’s leadership made energy independence a top priority under its five‑year strategic plan.
“This solar initiative is a game‑changer,” the president said. “It will reduce operational costs, support modern teaching, and create a healthier environment for students and staff.”

The company through its CEO Mr. Daniel M. C. Padmore confirmed that work will begin immediately and will be completed within five months.
